This week in N-CHS football history, in recognition of 100-years of Red Devil football, we pay recognition to the Super Fans! The Super Fans is a student run club that supports all N-CHS athletics but is most widely known for their support at football games. You can see this group of students dressed each week to a theme and cheering on their Red Devils with pride. N-CHS is away at Bunker Hill tonight; kick-off is at 7:30pm.
As a reminder, there is no school for students tomorrow, October 21st; it is an optional workday for our staff. We will see students back on Monday, October 24th. #groundedandgrowing
Our Principal meeting today was packed full of learning opportunities! This morning we had our staff work with specific scenarios and how to address these situations effectively and this afternoon Dr. Gabriel had Mr. Penley share his insight around building culture at our first fireside chat! Newton-Conover City Schools Board of Education, staff, and students participated in the Crunch! The #NCCrunch celebrates Farm to School and Early Care & Education Month and is an opportunity for kids and adults to taste and learn about NC-grown produce. #F2SMonth
At the October 17th board meeting, Billy Cannon, principal of Newton-Conover Middle School, recognized students, staff, and community members for their contribution to the school. Community members recognized were Heather Hewitt, and Pastor Gabe Herndon. Staff members recognized were Dawn Barger, Amy Jackson, Stephanie Washington, Vicky Williams, Katrina Palozzi, Samantha Jolly, and Jennifer Greene. Students recognized were Carsyn Hartsoe, Abdiel Martinez-Garcia, Banks Collins, Nick Collins, Caitlyn McElhone and Abby Fletcher. #groundedandgrowing
This morning, members of the N-CHS football team assisted with morning duty at Shuford Elementary School. The students loved having the special visitors on campus.
This week in N-CHS football, in recognition of 100-years, we recognize one of the most important groups on a Thursday and Friday night, the chain gang! We would like to thank our current chain gang, Matt Wilkinson, Tony Sigmon, Eric Hefner, Jason Lamb and Brian Harris for their time and dedication to Red Devil football. The Red Devils are home tonight vs. Bandys High School, kick-off is at 7:30pm. Also, tonight is homecoming and the official recognition of 100-years. We are excited to welcome back our alumni.
Mrs. Glover is in her fourth year as Instructional Coach at North Newton Elementary School. She has enjoyed a career in Newton-Conover City Schools as an accomplished teacher at Shuford Elementary School. Mrs. Glover is very thoughtful in her interactions and very skilled in supporting instructional staff. She is an essential part of North Newton Elementary School.
Mrs. Humphrey is in her second stint as Instructional Coach at Shuford Elementary School. She has also served as Principal at South Newton Elementary School, so she has a unique skill set that benefits her school community. She has a great sense of humor and helps put staff and students at ease. Her love of the process of teaching and learning is evident. She is an asset to the Shuford Elementary School community!
Mrs. Sharpe is in her second year as Instructional Coach at South Newton Elementary School. She has had an extensive career as a teacher and Assistant Principal and brings that wealth of expertise to her new role. Mrs. Sharpe taught at South Newton ES the past couple of school years and did excellent with her students. She is an excellent asset to the teachers at SNES!!
Mrs. Julie Bowman is in her 2nd year as Instructional Coach at Newton-Conover Middle School. Previously, Mrs. Bowman served as the Digital Learning Facilitator at South Newton Elementary School and Newton-Conover Middle School. Mrs. Bowman is a great resource for our instructors and is also able to provide interventions for our students as well. She is an important piece of the teaching and learning puzzle at N-CMS!!
Mrs. May is in her third year as Assistant Principal at Newton-Conover High School. Previously, Carla worked in Lincoln County Schools as a Teacher, Instructional Coach, and fill-in Administrator. Mrs. May is very bright, has a strong understanding of high school curriculum, and a great sense of humor. Mrs. May understands high school both from the professional lens as well as from the parental lens. She rounds out an outstanding team at N-CHS. We are excited to have her on our team in N-CCS!!!
