Today, Discovery High School hosted its fall BBQ sale. It's the first of two fundraisers they do every year. DHS teachers Mr. Scronce and Mr. Barham began preparing the BBQ at 3:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon. #whatdoesyourdashmean

N-CCS would like to send a shout-out to Bella Moretz a 6th grader at Newton Conover Middle School. Bella recently did a backpacking trip with one of her two scout troops. Bella hiked the Grayson Highlands State Park/National Forrest /Appalachian Trail for a total of 14 miles! She met some wild ponies and experienced hard work, failures, and ultimately success. Not only was she carrying a 35-pound pack, but she also did it in spite of losing half her tent, almost all of her items being soaking wet from her tent leaking the first night, overnight lows in the 20s, and wind gusts of 40mph. Way to go, Bella, we are proud of you!

Paula Sigmon is serving as a part-time administrative intern at Conover School for this school year. Paula is also an outstanding School Psychologist for Newton-Conover City Schools where she has endeared herself to students, staff, and families alike. We are appreciative of her skill set and are glad to be a part of her administrative journey!!

Mrs. Julie Bowman is in her 3rd year as Instructional Coach at Newton-Conover Middle School. Previously, Mrs. Bowman served as the Digital Learning Facilitator at South Newton Elementary School and Newton-Conover Middle School. Mrs. Bowman is a great resource for our instructors and is also able to provide interventions for our students as well. Her good nature and quick wit serve her well in the middle school setting. With her support, both student proficiency and growth are trending in the upward direction. She is an important piece of the teaching and learning puzzle at N-CMS!!

Mrs. Sharpe is in her third year as Instructional Coach at South Newton Elementary School. She has had an extensive career as a teacher and Assistant Principal and brings that wealth of expertise to SNES. Mrs. Sharpe also taught at South Newton ES for a couple of school years and was excellent with her students. She is an asset to the teachers at SNES!!

Mrs. Glover is in her fifth year as Instructional Coach at North Newton Elementary School. She has enjoyed a career in Newton-Conover City Schools as an accomplished teacher at Shuford Elementary School. Mrs. Glover is very thoughtful in her interactions and very skilled in supporting instructional staff. With her support, North Newton Elementary has academically grown by leaps and bounds in both growth and proficiency. She is an essential part of North Newton Elementary School.

Mrs. Hager brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Assistant Principal role at North Newton Elementary School. She taught for many years at Thornton Elementary and became the Instructional Coach at North Newton Elementary School when it opened. Mrs. Hager has also served as an Intervention Specialist for N-CCS where she provided support for our most at-risk students at the elementary school level. Mrs. Hager’s compassion, passion, and vision make her very unique and perfectly suited to serve as Assistant Principal at NNES!!
