If you have a current 5-year old child, it is time to register for Kindergarten screening which will occur on May 27, 2025 at all out elementary school sites. (Current law requires that a child who enrolls in kindergarten must be 5 years old ON AND BEFORE August 31, 2025.)

If you do not know which school your kindergarten child will attend, you may locate your child's school by using The Catawba County School Locator.

Once you know your kindergarten child's school please contact that school at the numbers listed below to schedule a screening time on May 27, 2025.

CHECKLIST OF WHAT'S NEEDED FOR ENROLLING YOUR CHILD IN KINDERGARTEN

1. BIRTH CERTIFICATE: Parents must present a birth certificate verifying that the child is at least 5 years old on or before August 31, 2025.

2. PROOF OF RESIDENCE: Please bring proof of your current residence to ensure correct school assignment. This may be a utility bill, lease agreement, or deed.

3. IMMUNIZATION RECORD: This certifies that your child has had these shots that are required by State Law: Diptheria, Tetanus, Whooping Cough (DTP), Oral Polio Vaccine, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B.

4. PHYSICAL EXAM CERTIFICATION: Your child must be examined by a doctor within the first 30 days of kindergarten. You will need to have your doctor or health department complete a health screening form.
