Newton-Conover City Schools has a proud tradition of providing quality educational services tailored to our diverse student population's specific learning and emotional needs.
At the N-CCS Board of Education Meeting held on Monday, February 17, 2025, the Board approved the school calendar for the 2025-26 school year (see 25-26 School Calendar).
Calendar features for the 2025-2026 school year include:
161 days of instruction (to meet the state mandate of 1025 instructional hours)
77 student days in the fall semester; 84 student days in the spring semester
The student start date is Monday, August 25, 2025 (per the North Carolina Calendar Law, it has to be on the Monday closest to August 26)
The last day of school for students is Thursday, May 21, 2026
There are two half days on the 25-26 calendar: Friday, December 19, 2025 & Thursday, May 21, 2026
The Superintendent is authorized to move Remote Learning Days in case of inclement weather and other closures
With these considerations, our board adopted the above-linked calendar. N-CCS works to meet the requirements of the 1,025 hours, which makes our school calendar conducive to high school first-semester exams before Christmas Break. Also, this calendar allows students' last day of the school year to occur before Memorial Day weekend.
The Board of Education reserves the right to revise this calendar based on legislative changes and the changing needs of the school district. If this occurs, all district and community stakeholders will be informed accordingly.
